Our Story & Timeline
2014 – AgeCheq and COPPA Compliance
PrivacyCheq began (as AgeCheq Inc.) focusing on the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The AgeCheq service launched to drastically simplify COPPA compliance for mobile game developers and parents, allowing integration and testing in a day.
2015 – Rebranding & IoT Privacy
In March 2015, we rebranded as PrivacyCheq, expanding our mission. By September 2015, we launched Privacynq, a privacy notice service for IoT devices, filling the IoT industry's "privacy vacuum" with easy-to-understand disclosures.
2016 – GDPR Readiness
With the EU's GDPR on the horizon, we upgraded our platform to meet its requirements: multi-language support, data subject request workflows (SAR, RTBF, etc.), and compliance proof logging. In April 2016, we introduced ConsentCheq, a toolkit and API for managing GDPR notice and consent interactions.
2017 – Solutions for SMBs
Building on ConsentCheq's tech, in 2017 we launched ConsentIQ specifically for small and mid-sized businesses, providing affordable compliance to SMEs without heavy IT investments.
2018 – Global Adoption
As GDPR enforcement began in May 2018, enterprises worldwide used PrivacyCheq technology for day-to-day compliance with GDPR's notice and consent rules. The platform evolved into a single integration point for major regulations – GDPR, ePrivacy, COPPA, CCPA (California), CASL (Canada), and others.
2020 – CCPA
Following California's new privacy law, we introduced PrivacyUX for CCPA, enabling businesses to comply with CCPA's Notice at Collection and "Do Not Sell" requirements rapidly. PrivacyCheq continues to innovate as new regulations emerge, staying ahead of the curve in privacy tech.
2022 – Consent with Incentives
Introduced "Consentive" service for Adtech/Martech companies to offer users small incentives to give their consent for ads and tracking.
2023 – Tracking many new US state privacy regulations
Designed for ultimate flexibility, the ConsentCheq service provides enterprises with a "one stop shop" for consent management as each new state regulation comes into force.
2025 – Bringing Consent to AI Agents
Introduced AI Agent Consent service to facilitate operational AI usage with full provenance on consent for training data as required by many new AI regulations.
